The team

Two therapists, two rooms.

Carys opened the clinic in 2016 after six years in a physiotherapy practice; Jamal joined in 2019 after his own long rehab. Both train, both know what a taper week feels like, and both will tell you when the answer is rest.

Carys Bevan

Owner and therapist. Rehab, runners' blocks, the events

Level 4 sports massage diploma, a sports science degree, and four Ironman finishes, the last at Tenby in 2023. Worked for a physiotherapy practice for six years before opening the two rooms on Wellfield Road in 2016, and still refers to the physios she worked with. Runs the rehab blocks, the runners' and cyclists' blocks and the race-day gazebo, and keeps the diary that the website reads. Will tell you to rest, and mean it.

Therapist. Deep tissue, desk workers, the workplace chair

Level 4 sports massage diploma and a soft-tissue therapy qualification, after a rugby career at Cardiff Met and Glamorgan Wanderers that ended with a shoulder reconstruction and a long introduction to rehab from the other side of the couch. Joined in 2019. Does most of the deep tissue work, the desk-worker packages and the workplace chair sessions, and rides the Taff Trail to work. Slower and heavier than anyone, by request.

  • 58clients a week across the two rooms
  • 23race days a year under the gazebo, from the Bay 10K to the half
  • 9years on Wellfield Road, two therapists, one diary
  • 4.9average rating

The paperwork

What to ask any therapist for, and ours.

Level 4

Both hold a Level 4 diploma in sports massage therapy, the level the governing bodies recognise for working with injuries. Level 3 is a general massage qualification; ask which a therapist has.

Registered and insured

Members of the Sports Massage Association, with its code of conduct and complaints route, and insured for £5 million public and professional liability. Certificates on the landing wall.

First aid

Both hold a first-aid-at-work certificate, renewed every three years, and the race-day kit includes a defibrillator and a trauma bag.

Where our job ends

We do not diagnose, manipulate joints or treat acute injuries. Three physios in Roath and Cathays take our referrals and send people back to us. That arrangement is the most useful thing on this page.

Up two flights

Two rooms over a florist and a café, since 2016.

The teal door between the florist and the café on Wellfield Road opens onto two flights of stairs and two rooms that were a dentist's surgery and its waiting room. Both have tall sash windows over the rooftops of Roath, both have a couch that lowers, and the landing has a chair, the certificates, and a bike stand for anyone who wants their saddle height looked at.

Find the door

The next free slot is on this website. Take it.

Forty-five minutes is £50 and the usual first booking: ten minutes of talking, thirty-five hands on, a stretch and a drill written down. Pick an hour on the book page up to two hours ahead, or ring the clinic and we find you one.
