Four sessions, a plan and the letter to your physio, £180; and a referral out when it is not ours to treat

Injury rehab, with a physio when it needs one

Soft-tissue rehab for the strains, the tendon problems and the "it went in week eight" injuries that massage, loading and patience can fix: four forty-five-minute sessions over four to six weeks with a written plan, for £180. And for the things that are not ours, a letter to one of three physios we trust, and the work picked up again when they discharge you.

About a fifth of what comes through the door is an injury rather than maintenance: a calf that went at mile ten, a hamstring that grabbed in a sprint, an Achilles that has been grumbling for a month, a shoulder that will not let you serve. Some of it is ours to treat and some of it is not, and the most useful thing we do in the first ten minutes is say which.

If it is ours: a muscle strain, a tendon that is irritated rather than torn, the tight tissue that is loading a joint badly, the compensation pattern after a sprain. The block is four forty-five-minute sessions over four to six weeks: hands-on work to settle the tissue, then progressive loading we teach you and check each visit, with a written plan you take away and a return-to-running or return-to-sport ladder with dates on it. £180, and if you are discharged after three we refund the fourth.

If it is not ours: anything that might be a tear, a stress fracture, a joint or ligament problem, nerve pain, or pain that does not behave like muscle, goes to a physiotherapist first. We write a letter with what we found and our reasoning, send you to one of three physios in Roath and Cathays whose work we have seen for years, and pick the soft-tissue work back up when they say the loading can start. We do not charge for the letter or for the ten minutes it took to decide.

Working with a physio rather than instead of one is the thing that makes rehab here safe. We swap notes with your permission, we do not undo their loading plan with a deep session they did not ask for, and we tell you honestly when the answer is six weeks of boring strength work and no massage at all. About one in six injury clients is sent straight to a physio or a GP at the first visit.

  • A written plan and a return-to-sport ladder with dates
  • The fourth session refunded if you are discharged after three
  • A free letter to one of three physios we trust

What it costs

The rehab block: four forty-five-minute sessions, a written plan and the physio letter if one is needed, £180 (against £200 booked singly). A single assessment and treatment is £50. The referral letter is free. The prices page has every length and block side by side; the treatment picker says which one fits what is bothering you.

Questions about injury rehab

Can you tell me what the injury is?

We can tell you what the tissue is doing and whether it behaves like a muscle problem, which is what we treat. We are not physiotherapists and do not diagnose; if it needs a diagnosis we say so and send you to someone who can, with a letter.

How long until I can run again?

For a simple calf or hamstring strain, usually three to six weeks with a graded return that starts in week two. We give you the ladder with dates and adjust it each visit. Anything longer than that is a physio conversation.

Forty-five minutes is £50 and the usual first booking: ten minutes of talking, thirty-five hands on, a stretch and a drill written down. Pick an hour on the book page up to two hours ahead, or ring the clinic and we find you one.
