Six sessions put in the diary against my plan on day one, and Carys moved two of them without a murmur when I got a cold in week nine. The light one in the taper felt pointless and was the one that got me to the start with fresh legs. 3:41, eleven minutes off, and the calf that went last year did not go.

A shoulder knot I have carried since 2019 that three other people had pummelled. Jamal asked how deep, went slower and heavier than anyone has, and waited for it to let go rather than fighting it. Felt bruised on Tuesday, free on Wednesday, and I can turn my head to reverse the car.
The photo of me at my desk was humiliating and the most useful thing anyone has shown me about my headaches. Three sessions, the screen up on a box, two ninety-second drills I actually do, and the four o'clock headache has gone. I have not needed a fourth, which they said at the start I probably would not.
I expected a massage and got an honest ten minutes about whether it needed a physio first. It did not, so four sessions of calf work and a heel-drop programme with dates on a sheet, checked every visit. Running again in week five, discharged after three sessions and the fourth refunded without my asking.
Twenty minutes under the gazebo at the finish for £25, legs flushed, and the proper session four days later was excellent. Four stars because the race-day list filled by Thursday and I queued forty minutes; book the list earlier, which they did say on the website and I did not read.
Next free slot on the website, booked it at 9pm for 7am, no account, no app. Forty-five minutes on the calves and feet, a stretch written down, told to come back in five weeks and not before. I have been going every five or six weeks for two years and I have not missed a parkrun through injury in that time.
About the four stars
The race-day list now opens ten days out, and a third couch comes to the Half.
Lowri was right that the Cardiff Half list filled by the Thursday and the queue on the day was forty minutes. The list for each event now opens ten days ahead rather than seven, we email everyone who had a slot at that event last year when it opens, and the Half gets a third couch and a borrowed therapist. The queue last time was twelve minutes at its worst.

Been on the couch? Tell the next person with tight calves.
