For employers, HR teams and occupational health in the Vale and Cardiff
Workplace referrals
Short blocks of confidential counselling paid for by an employer, for staff going through bereavement, stress, a difficult return to work or something at home that is spilling into the job. The employer pays; the content stays private.

Employers come to us when they want to help someone properly and quickly, without a call centre in between. We see the person within a fortnight, and we tell the employer only what the employee agrees we can.
A manager, HR adviser or occupational health nurse rings or emails to make the referral, with the employee's agreement. We then speak to the employee directly and offer a free 20-minute call like anyone else. Sessions are usually a block of six, reviewed at the end; the employer receives attendance dates and nothing more unless the employee asks us to write something, which they see first.
We work with schools, small firms, two GP practices, a housing association and a few of the shops and cafés in Penarth. We are not an employee assistance programme and do not offer a phone line; we offer two experienced counsellors and a short wait. If the employer would like a session for a team after a death or a difficult event, we can talk about that, though we will be honest about what one session can and cannot do.

Questions about workplace referrals
Will you tell me how my employee is doing?
Only what they agree to. By default you receive the dates they attended. Some employees are happy for us to confirm they are engaging well; that is their choice.
Can the employee carry on privately afterwards?
Yes, at our usual fees or the sliding scale, without the employer being told unless they choose to say.
Start with a free 20-minute call.
Talk to the counsellor you would see before anything is booked or paid for. Ask anything, including whether we are the right people. The diary shows the next free call; pick it, or ring and leave a message and we reply within a working day.
