Fifty minutes, weekly or fortnightly, for as long as it is useful
Individual counselling
One-to-one counselling for whatever has brought you here: something that happened, something that keeps happening, or a feeling you cannot quite name. Fifty minutes, at the same time each week if you can, in a quiet room or online.

Most people arrive not quite sure what counselling is or whether it will suit them. That is fine. The first session is mostly about you deciding whether you can talk to this person, in this room, about this thing.
We work integratively, which in plain words means we do not squeeze you into one method. Some weeks are about what is happening now and what you might try; some are about where a pattern started; some are just about being heard by someone who is not your friend, your partner or your manager. We will not diagnose you, prescribe anything or promise an outcome. What we can promise is a regular hour that belongs to you, a counsellor who remembers what you said last week, and honesty if we think something else would help more.
People come about relationships, work, family, confidence, loneliness, a change they did not choose, things from childhood, or a low mood that has gone on longer than it should. Some come for six sessions and some for two years. We review together every six sessions, so you are never drifting, and ending is planned with you rather than done to you. If you would rather talk in Welsh, Dafydd works in Welsh as naturally as in English.

Questions about individual counselling
How many sessions will I need?
Nobody can tell you that honestly on day one. Some people find six sessions enough to get unstuck; others stay longer. We review every six sessions and you can stop after any one of them.
What if I do not know what to say?
Most people say that in the first session. The counsellor will ask questions to begin with, silences are allowed, and you never have to talk about anything before you are ready.
Start with a free 20-minute call.
Talk to the counsellor you would see before anything is booked or paid for. Ask anything, including whether we are the right people. The diary shows the next free call; pick it, or ring and leave a message and we reply within a working day.
