Filmed, slowed down, explained
Gait and form sessions
An hour on the track filming your running from the side and behind, slowed down and talked through, with two or three drills. Coaching, not a medical gait analysis.

This is coaching, not a medical gait analysis. We look at how you run and help you run more easily. If something hurts, the right person is a physiotherapist or podiatrist, and we will say so.
We film you on the track at an easy pace and a faster one, from the side and from behind, with a phone at high frame rate. Then we sit on the infield and watch it slowed down together.
Most of what we see is simple: overstriding, a stiff upper body, a slow cadence, arms crossing the body. We pick the one or two changes most likely to help, and give you drills to practise for four weeks.
We do not diagnose injuries, prescribe insoles or tell you which shoes to buy from a video. If you have pain, see a physio first; if they want to know how you run, bring them the video.

Questions about gait and form
Is this the same as a gait analysis in a running shop?
No. Shops usually look at your feet to sell shoes; we look at your whole running to coach it. Neither is a medical assessment.
I have knee pain. Will this fix it?
See a physio first. Pain needs a diagnosis, which we cannot give.
Should I change my footstrike?
Rarely on purpose. It usually changes by itself when you stop overstriding.
Your first club run is free. Tuesday, 6:30, the lighthouse.
Turn up five minutes early and find a coach in a teal jacket. There are four pace groups and a back marker who finishes last on purpose, so whatever your pace, you will not be running on your own.
