Tuesday, 6:30, the lighthouse.

Three club runs a week and a trail run on Sundays, every pace in a group of its own and a back marker who finishes last on purpose. Your first run is free; just turn up five minutes early.

About fifteen runners of mixed ages gathered by a small white harbour lighthouse at dusk, some with head torches

From October to March, bring a light and something reflective on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Club runs go ahead in rain; in a storm warning or ice we cancel by text and on Facebook by 4pm.

Tuesday pace groups

Four groups, nobody left behind.

  • Sea: 7:00 to 7:30 a kilometre, 5 km, walking breaks welcome, Huw at the back
  • Sand: 6:00 to 6:45 a kilometre, 5 to 7 km
  • Dune: 5:15 to 5:50 a kilometre, 7 km
  • Cliff: 4:30 to 5:10 a kilometre, 9 km, out past Rest Bay

Not sure which? Start one group slower than you think. Moving up is easy; being dropped on your first night is not much fun.

Your first club run is free. Tuesday, 6:30, the lighthouse.

Turn up five minutes early and find a coach in a teal jacket. There are four pace groups and a back marker who finishes last on purpose, so whatever your pace, you will not be running on your own.
