Venues

We know where the light goes at every barn in the Vale.

Ten places we have shot often enough to know the good corner, the rain plan and the time the sun drops behind the hill. If yours is not here, we visit before the day, at the time of day your ceremony will be, and walk it.

The venues

Rosedew Farm

Llantwit Major

Stone barn, sea a mile away, the best confetti lane in the Vale. Shot here twenty-two times.

Fonmon Castle

Rhoose

Castle and walled garden; the library for rain, the lawn at golden hour.

Llanerch Vineyard

Hensol

Vines on the slope for portraits, the long room for speeches, good light all day.

Oldwalls

Gower

Two barns and a lake; worth the two-shooter package for the size of it.

St Donat's Castle

Llantwit Major

The cloister and the Bradenstoke Hall; the sea terrace if the wind allows.

Court Colman Manor

Bridgend

Grand rooms and a lawn; the staircase for the morning.

Sant Ffraed House

Abergavenny

A long table in the barn and the river for portraits.

Nash Point and Southerndown

The Vale coast

Not venues: the cliffs and the beach for elopements and the portrait walk.

Cardiff, Barry and Bridgend registry offices

South Wales

Small ceremonies, then somewhere beautiful.

Your parents' garden

Anywhere

A marquee, a tipi, the kitchen. Some of the best weddings we have shot.

If it rains

It rains at a third of our weddings. We have a plan for every venue on this page.

The library at Fonmon, the cloister at St Donat's, the long room at Llanerch, the lean-to at Rosedew where the light is better than outside anyway. We carry two clear umbrellas, we know which coordinators will let us use the bridal suite, and some of the best photographs on this website were taken in weather the couple had dreaded for a month. The rain pictures at Fonmon are the ones that couple put on the wall.

  • A rain plan agreed at the planning call, per venue
  • Clear umbrellas in the car, and wellies for Anwen
  • The portraits moved to the gap in the forecast, not the schedule

Somewhere new

A venue we have not shot gets a visit before the day, at your ceremony time.

Light is a time as much as a place: a lawn that is perfect at four in June is in shadow at four in October. For a venue we do not know we drive over a few weeks before, at the hour of your ceremony, and walk the day through: where you will get ready, where the confetti can happen, the portrait spot, the rain spot, where the speeches will be and where we can stand without being in them. It takes an afternoon and it is included.

Check your date, then tell us about the day.

The availability page says which dates are already taken. If yours is free, the form takes two minutes, we reply within the working day, and a video call that week with a £400 deposit holds it. If it is gone, we will say so and suggest two photographers we would book ourselves.
