Espresso, filter, batch, buns and brunch till three
The café
Thirty seats, a window seat, a dog corner and a counter. Espresso drinks on the house blend, a rotating single origin on filter, batch brew for people in a hurry, cardamom buns from eight and brunch until three.

The café exists to serve the coffee at its best: within three weeks of roasting, on a grinder that was dialled in that morning, in a cup that was warmed. Everything else is there because a good coffee deserves a good bun.
The espresso is the house blend, Groundwork, which is two washed coffees from Brazil and Colombia that we have roasted the same way for nine years. The filter changes every week or two between the single origins on the shelf; batch brew is the same coffee in a bigger pot for people who want it now. The recipe for the day is on the board behind the counter: dose, yield, time, and who dialled it in.
Food is small and done well: cardamom buns and a cinnamon one from the oven at the back, sourdough toast from a bakery on the next street with eggs, avocado or beans, a daily soup in winter and a granola in summer. Brunch runs until three; the coffee runs until we close. The window seat is first come, the dog corner has water bowls, and the plugs are along the back wall.

Questions about the café
Do you do decaf?
Yes, a Colombian decaffeinated by the sugar-cane process, which keeps the flavour, roasted here like everything else. It is on espresso and batch all day, and it is the same price.
