About

A plantswoman, a groundworker and a gardener.

Cerys started Greenway in 2011 because too many gardens were being built by people who knew paving and nothing about plants. Huw knew paving. Rhys came later and keeps it all alive. That is still the whole company.

How we work

Designed, built and looked after by the same people.

Most landscaping firms build what a designer drew and leave. Most designers never see their drawings built. Most gardeners inherit someone else's planting. We do all three, in that order, which means the plan is drawn by someone who will have to plant it and the planting is done by someone who will have to maintain it. Things that look good on paper and die in Vale clay do not get drawn.

  • Cerys draws every plan and is on site for every planting
  • Huw builds every patio, wall, fence and deck, and has never had a patio lift
  • Rhys runs the maintenance round, same gardener every visit
  • No subcontractors apart from an electrician for garden lighting

The team

Who turns up.

Three of us, a pickup, a digger on a trailer and a lot of plants.

Cerys Howells

Designer and owner

Cerys trained in garden design after ten years as a plantswoman at a Vale nursery, and started Greenway in 2011 because too many gardens were being built without anyone who knew plants. She draws every plan, chooses every plant and is on site for the planting.

Huw Thomas

Hard landscaper

Huw builds the patios, walls, fences and decks, and drives the digger. Thirty years of groundwork and stonework, and a conviction that a patio is only as good as what is under it. He has never had one lift.

Rhys Bevan

Gardener

Rhys joined in 2017 and runs the maintenance round and the lawns. RHS-trained, which shows in his pruning, and the one who will tell you your lawn needs scarifying rather than replacing.

  • 14years in the Vale
  • 320+gardens designed and built
  • 5 yrguarantee on hard landscaping

Promises

Four things you can hold us to.

Design first, then build

A measured survey, a scaled plan and a planting list before any ground is broken. You know what it will look like and what it will cost before you say yes.

One price, in stages

Materials, labour, plants, skips and VAT in one figure, paid in stages as the work lands. Changes are priced before they happen.

Built to drain

Vale clay holds water. Every patio has a fall and a drain, every lawn is prepared, every planting pit is broken through. It is the dull part and the part that lasts.

Looked after afterwards

A garden is finished a year after it is planted. We offer maintenance for the first season and beyond, so it grows into the plan rather than away from it.

Start with a visit.

Cerys comes to the garden, measures it and listens, for free. A sketch follows, then a plan, then one price. No pressure at any stage; some people build it three summers later.
