What we do

Six things, from the ground up.

All services and prices

01

Garden design

A measured survey, a scaled concept plan and a planting list, drawn by hand and then to scale, for gardens we build and gardens you would rather build yourself.

Concept design from £450 for a typical back garden, including the survey, two site visits and a scaled plan.

02

Patios and paving

Patios, paths and steps laid on a proper base with a fall and a drain, in porcelain, Indian sandstone, Welsh limestone or clay setts, pointed to last.

Patios from £3,200 for 20 square metres in porcelain or sandstone, including excavation, a compacted sub-base, drainage, slabs, pointing and waste removal.

03

Lawns and turfing

New lawns from turf or seed on properly prepared ground, worn lawns renovated rather than replaced, and artificial grass where a real lawn genuinely will not grow.

New turf lawns from £900 for 50 square metres including stripping, cultivating, levelling, topsoil and turf.

04

Planting and borders

New borders and the renewal of old ones, planted to a plan with plants chosen for Vale clay and coastal wind, plus hedges, specimen trees and wildlife-friendly schemes.

Borders from £650 for a 5-metre border including soil preparation, plants, planting, mulch and a plan.

05

Fencing and decking

Fences that stay up in a Vale gale, in closeboard, slatted cedar or composite, plus decks, pergolas, raised beds and the timber bones of a garden.

Closeboard fencing from £95 per metre, slatted cedar from £160 per metre, including concreted posts and removal of the old fence.

06

Garden maintenance

Regular visits from gardeners who know plants, not just mowers: pruning at the right time, borders kept, lawns fed and edged, hedges cut, and a seasonal tidy for gardens we did not build.

Half-day visits from £120, full days from £220, fortnightly or monthly.

How we work

A sketch, a plan, one price, then the digger.

Cerys visits and listens, draws a sketch over a cup of tea, then a scaled plan with levels and a planting list. Everything is priced in one figure, paid in stages. Huw builds it, Cerys plants it, and Rhys can look after it for the first season so it grows into the drawing.

  • The first visit is free and takes about an hour
  • You own the plan, whoever builds it
  • Design fee deducted if we build

What you can hold us to

Four promises on every garden.

Design first, then build

A measured survey, a scaled plan and a planting list before any ground is broken. You know what it will look like and what it will cost before you say yes.

One price, in stages

Materials, labour, plants, skips and VAT in one figure, paid in stages as the work lands. Changes are priced before they happen.

Built to drain

Vale clay holds water. Every patio has a fall and a drain, every lawn is prepared, every planting pit is broken through. It is the dull part and the part that lasts.

Looked after afterwards

A garden is finished a year after it is planted. We offer maintenance for the first season and beyond, so it grows into the plan rather than away from it.

Full build

Cerys drew our garden on the back of her notebook at the first visit and that sketch is more or less what we have now, five weeks later. The patio drains, the lawn is flat, the borders looked like a garden by July. Worth every penny.

Full build

Our garden was brambles and broken slabs. Huw and Rhys cleared it, fenced it and built the patio in a fortnight, and Cerys planted it for the wind, which everyone else had ignored. Nothing has died.

Lawn renovation

Asked for a quote to replace my lawn. Rhys looked at it and said it needed scarifying and overseeding, not replacing, and did it for a third of the price. By May I had a lawn again.

Questions people ask before they ring

How much does a garden cost?

A full back-garden build for a typical semi (patio, lawn, borders, fencing) is £14,500 to £25,000 depending on size and materials. A patio alone from £3,200, a lawn from £900, a border from £650. The design visit is free and the concept design £450, deducted if we build.

How long will I wait?

Design three to four weeks. Build dates are usually two to three months out, longer in spring. Maintenance can start within a fortnight. We give dates and tell you if they move.

Do you do small jobs?

Yes: a border, a fence, a lawn, a day of pruning. The minimum is a half-day visit. Very small jobs are often done between larger ones, which can mean a short wait.

Will you look after it afterwards?

If you want us to. First-season maintenance helps new planting establish, and many customers keep us on fortnightly or monthly. There is no obligation; the aftercare sheet covers the basics if you would rather do it yourself.

What about the mess?

A garden build is a building site for a few weeks. We sheet the access route, speak to the neighbours, keep the skip at the front, and leave the site swept on the last day. Lawns walked over to get to the back are made good.

Start with a visit.

Cerys comes to the garden, measures it and listens, for free. A sketch follows, then a plan, then one price. No pressure at any stage; some people build it three summers later.
