When is it next due?

Find the last injection in the passport, put in the date, and we will do the sum. Flu and tetanus run on different clocks, and missing a date can mean starting the course again.

About the dates

What is the passport rule on flu?

The rules used by most racing and competition bodies ask for a first injection, then a second 21 to 92 days later, a third 150 to 215 days after that, and boosters within a year. Miss one, and it often means starting the course again. We enter it all in the passport.

Is it different for competing?

It can be. International rules under the FEI ask for a booster within six months and 21 days of the last one, and no injection within seven days of competing. Check the rules for your event, because they change.

What about tetanus?

A first course of two injections four to six weeks apart, a booster about a year later, and then every two years, depending on the vaccine. Tetanus is usually fatal in horses and the vaccine is very good. Your horse should not go without it.

This is a guide, right?

Yes. It works from the date you give it and the common schedule. Your vaccine’s data sheet and the passport have the last word, and we will always check them on the day.
