Vaccinations, health checks and worming plans
Routine visits
Vaccinations, passport signing, annual health checks and worm control plans, on a set round by area, so that you share the visit fee with the rest of your yard.

Most of what a horse needs from a vet is dull, and it is the dull bits that stop the 3am phone call.
We work the area in rounds: Usk and Raglan on Mondays, Abergavenny and Crickhowell on Tuesdays, Monmouth on Wednesdays, Chepstow and Caerleon on Thursdays. Book onto your round and the visit fee drops to £28 and gets split between the horses on the yard. Same-day visits off the round cost £58.
An annual health check is about half an hour: heart, lungs, eyes, teeth, feet, weight, and a chat about how the horse has been going. We sign passports and write it all down, so a pattern shows up over the years. Most of our best catches have been a line in last year’s notes.
We run faecal egg counts in the practice for £14 a sample, and we would rather you only wormed the horses that need it, because resistance is real and the drugs we have are running out.

Questions about routine visits
What if I only have one horse?
You still get the round-day fee, and if a neighbour books as well, you split it. We will happily tell you if someone near you is on the list.
Do you do weekends?
For emergencies, always. Routine work is Monday to Friday, with a Saturday morning for people who work.
Worried? Ring. Nobody here minds an unnecessary call.
A vet answers, day or night, and advice on the phone is free. For everything else, there is a round day.
