Hot stone

Booked hot stone in January because the voucher my sister gave me was about to run out, and I have been back every month since. The stones are warm, not hot, Nia checks every one, and I fell asleep twice. The tea afterwards in the window is part of it.

Deep tissue

I drive for a living and my right shoulder lives up by my ear. Tomos asked what I do all day, warmed it up properly and then went slow and deep on the bits that matter. Sore the next day, loose for a fortnight. Thursday at seven means I do not lose a shift.

Pregnancy

At thirty weeks I could not get comfortable anywhere. Nia propped me up on my side with more pillows than I own, worked on my lower back and my swollen feet, and asked about my midwife appointments first. I booked three more before my due date.

Couples room

Our anniversary present from our daughter, built on the website with our names on. Lynne had aromatherapy and I had deep tissue at the same time in the room at the top with the window. Fifteen minutes with tea after, nobody hurrying us. We have booked it for next year ourselves.

Swedish

A lovely, unhurried Swedish massage and a properly quiet room, which is rare in town. Four stars only because the stairs to the top room are steep and I had not been warned; the ground-floor room is there if you ask, which I now do.

Aromatherapy

I chose a blend of something with orange in it by smell, had an hour of gentle massage, and went home with the bottle. Nia was clear it would not cure my insomnia and to see my GP about that, which I appreciated. I slept well that night anyway.

About the four stars

Every booking now asks: stairs, or the ground floor?

Priya was right; the stairs to the top rooms are steep, as Georgian stairs are, and we had not said so. The booking confirmation now asks which you would prefer, the find-us page says it plainly, and the ground-floor room is kept free for anyone who asks.
