Seren and Leah

Two therapists, no doctors pretended.

Seren opened the clinic in 2018 after eight years in a dermatology clinic's cosmetic suite; Leah joined in 2021 and runs the laser. We are qualified skin therapists. We do not inject, prescribe or diagnose, and we say when you need someone who does.

The paperwork

What to ask any skin clinic, and our answers.

Qualifications

Level 4 in skin peels and in microneedling (Seren), Level 4 in laser and light with the Core of Knowledge safety course (Leah). Ask to see the certificates; they are in the folder at the desk.

The laser registration

In Wales a class 4 laser used for cosmetic treatment must be registered with Healthcare Inspectorate Wales. Ours is; a live site would show the number here. On this demonstration site it is a placeholder.

Local rules and an adviser

A laser protection adviser reviews the room, the laser and our written local rules every year. Everyone in the room wears the right eyewear, and the door is locked during treatment.

Insurance and a code of practice

Both are members of a professional aesthetics association, with treatment insurance and a code of practice (membership numbers shown as placeholders here).

The shop

Halfway up Newton Road, where Seren had her first Saturday job.

Number 22 was a wool shop, then a gift shop, then empty. Seren took it in 2018, put the consultation room and a treatment room on the ground floor, the laser room upstairs where the door locks, and painted the door the colour of the sand at Bracelet Bay at low tide, more or less.
