Six bedrooms above the bar and in the hayloft, breakfast included, the nightly rate by season and by night on the website
The rooms
Six rooms: four doubles (one with a bath and the mountain view), a family room in the old hayloft and a small attic double for a walker on their own. Every rate includes breakfast and is published on the rooms page by season (low, mid and high) and by night (weekday or weekend), with tonight's rate worked out from the clock. From £70 a night in the attic to £190 for the hayloft on a summer weekend.

Six rooms in a building that has had people sleeping upstairs since the coaches stopped here, which means beams you duck under, floors that slope towards the canal and walls thick enough that the bar below is a murmur. We rebuilt the bathrooms in 2019, kept the beams, and put the prices on the website so you do not have to ring to be told a number.
The rates are by season and by night. Low season is November to March (except the week of Christmas and New Year, which is high), mid is April to June and October, high is July to September and the Christmas week. A weekend night is Friday or Saturday; everything else is a weekday. Every room has its six prices on the rooms page and the one for tonight picked out from the clock; put a date in and it shows that night instead. Breakfast is in every price: the full Welsh, porridge, eggs any way, from eight.
The rooms: the Sugar Loaf is the big one at the front with the king bed, the cast-iron bath by the window and the mountain filling it. Table Mountain and the Blorenge are classic doubles (the Blorenge goes twin) looking over the canal. The Canal room is a smaller double on the ground floor by the boot room, with a dog bed and the garden door, and it takes dogs. The Hayloft is the family room across the yard with a double and a pair of bunks, its own stair and a dog allowed; and the Garret is the attic single-or-snug-double for a walker with a rucksack and a budget. Two nights minimum on a high-season weekend; otherwise one.

Questions about the rooms
Is the rate on the website the real rate?
Yes, to the pound, including VAT and breakfast, and the same by phone, email or at the bar. We are not on the booking sites, which is why it can be.
Which rooms take dogs?
The Canal room on the ground floor and the Hayloft across the yard, £10 a dog a night, towels and a bowl provided. Dogs can also come in the bar and the garden, just not the restaurant at the roast.
A room with the rate on the page, a roast with the covers left, a bar with the village in it.
The rooms page works tonight's rate out from the clock, the roast page shows what is left in each sitting, and one form books either, a table, the barn or Christmas. Nia replies within the hour while the bar is open; nothing is charged until we confirm.
