The team

Two podiatrists, both registered.

Helen opened the clinic in 2011 after eleven years in the NHS, the last five in diabetic foot protection; Arjun joined in 2018 from a sports injury clinic. Their HCPC numbers are below, because anyone treating your feet should be on the register and it takes a minute to check.

Helen Price, a woman podiatrist in her late forties with greying blonde hair in a low bun, wearing a navy clinical tunic, beside a mint-green podiatry chair in a bright treatment room

Helen Price

Podiatrist and owner. Nail surgery, diabetic feet, home visits

BSc Podiatry from Cardiff Metropolitan, HCPC registered (CH 21844), local anaesthetic and prescription-only medicines certified, and eleven years in NHS community podiatry, the last five in the diabetic foot protection team at the Heath, before opening the clinic in 2011. Does the nail surgery, the diabetic checks and most of the home visits, and has seen some of the same patients every eight weeks for fourteen years.

Arjun Mehta, a podiatrist in his early thirties with short black hair and glasses, wearing a navy clinical tunic in a clinic room with a gait analysis treadmill behind him

Arjun Mehta

Podiatrist. Biomechanics, orthotics, verrucae, sports injuries

BSc Podiatry from Cardiff Metropolitan and an MSc in clinical biomechanics, HCPC registered (CH 38712), joined in 2018 after three years in a sports injury clinic in Bristol. Runs the treadmill assessments and the orthotics, does the verruca needling and the Wednesday evenings, and is the one who will talk you out of orthotics you do not need. Runs the Taff Trail half every year and comes back with notes on everyone's shoes.

The paperwork

What to ask any foot clinic for, and ours.

HCPC registration

Helen CH 21844, Arjun CH 38712. Chiropodist and podiatrist are protected titles; look either number up on the HCPC register. A "foot health practitioner" is not registered and cannot do what we do.

Local anaesthetic and medicines

Both are certified to give local anaesthetic and supply the prescription-only medicines podiatrists may use, which is what makes nail surgery and dry needling possible in the clinic.

Sterilisation

A vacuum autoclave tested daily and serviced yearly, instruments sealed in dated pouches, and the log on the wall. Ask to see it; we will be pleased you did.

Insurance and the Royal College

Both are members of the Royal College of Podiatry, which provides professional indemnity insurance and a code of conduct, and both complete the continuing professional development the HCPC audits.

The clinic

A corner shop on Caerphilly Road, made step-free in 2011.

Number 88 was a newsagent for forty years. Helen took it in 2011, lowered the doorway, put in two treatment rooms, a waiting room and an accessible toilet, and kept the frosted windows so nobody on the bus can see your feet. The car park behind came with it, and the bus stop outside is the reason half the patients chose us.
