The step after Tuesdays

Development squad

A proper Thursday session with a coach and a friendly about once a month. For anyone who wants more football but not league football yet.

Some women come on Tuesdays for a few months and then start asking for more. The development squad trains on Thursday nights under the lights with Jade, working on proper passing, positions and how a team plays, with a friendly match against another club about once a month.

This is the place for anyone getting their football back after a long gap, or for a Tuesday regular who wants to find out what she can do. Nobody is selected and nobody is dropped. If you turn up, you are in the squad.

Friendlies are short, with roll-on subs and the same rule as everything else: nobody plays nobody else's whole game. If you want to go on to the league team, Jade will tell you when she thinks you are ready, and you can say no.

Questions about development squad

Is it very serious?

It is serious about the football and not about you. We work hard and we laugh a great deal.

Can I do Tuesdays as well?

Yes, and many do. Membership includes both.

Turn up on Tuesday. That is genuinely the whole plan.

Seven o'clock at Cae Dderwen, in whatever you have got. Your first month costs nothing. Bethan will find you at the gate, and nobody will ask you what position you played in 2004.
