Dead at seven on a frosty Monday. Ffion was there at nine, tested it, and it was the alternator, not the battery I was about to buy. New one fitted on the street by two o'clock.
Clutch done on our drive in a day. Dai rang at lunchtime to say the flywheel was fine, which saved us £400 we had been warned about. Everything was swept up when we got home.
Had a used Octavia looked at in Pontypridd before I handed over the money. They found filler on the rear arch and a cleared engine code, and I got £650 off. Best hundred and ten quid I have spent, call-out and all.
Brakes done well and the price was right. Four stars because the morning slot became an afternoon one when the job before ran over; they texted me at nine to say, and the £20 call-out was knocked off, but I had taken the morning off work.

Bethan's brakes were booked for 10:30 in Aberdare. The clutch before it in Ferndale found a seized bolt and ran over, and she got a text at nine and a mechanic at two. The call-out came off the bill, but she had already taken the morning off work. Since then any slot after a big job is confirmed again by eleven, and a clutch never sits before a morning booking further than ten miles away.
