Fixed labour, on the websiteThe price list gives the labour for every common job as a fixed figure, and an honest estimate of the parts for your size of car. If the parts come in cheaper, you pay less; if a job turns out bigger, we ring before we touch it.
We come to the carYour drive, the street outside, or the car park at work. You hand over the keys at eight and drive home at five. No lifts to arrange, no courtesy car, no sitting in a waiting room.
Main-dealer trainedDai spent eighteen years as a master technician at a main dealer in Pontypridd; Ffion holds the IMI Level 3 in diagnostics and is hybrid-qualified. We service to the manufacturer schedule, so your warranty stands.
Twelve months on everythingParts and labour are guaranteed for twelve months or 12,000 miles. If something we fitted fails, we come back to you, not the other way round.

Jobs

Six jobs, one van to your door.

All six

Job 01

Servicing at home or work

Interim and full services done on your drive or in the car park at work, to the manufacturer schedule, with OE-quality parts and the digital service record stamped. Keys at eight, car back by lunch, and your warranty kept.

Interim service £65 labour plus about £28 to £52 of oil and filter.

Job 02

Brakes

Squealing, grinding, a pull to one side or a soft pedal: we change pads, discs, shoes and calipers on your drive, wind back electronic handbrakes with the diagnostic tool, and road-test it before we leave. Front pads and discs from £160 for a small car.

Front pads and discs £85 labour plus £75 to £150 of parts.

Job 03

Batteries and non-starts

The car will not start on a cold morning. We come out with a jump pack and a tester, find out whether it is the battery, the alternator, the starter or something else, and fix it there, usually the same day. Stop-start batteries coded to the car.

Battery fitted £25 labour plus £85 to £175 for the battery, by size and type. A non-start visit is £55, deducted from the repair.

Job 04

Diagnostics

A warning light on the dash, a car in limp mode, a misfire or a rattle. Ffion plugs in the dealer-level tool, reads the codes and the live data, road-tests it and finds the cause, not just the code. £55, deducted if we do the repair.

Diagnostics £55, up to an hour, deducted from the repair if we do it.

Job 05

Clutches and cambelts

The two jobs everyone assumes need a garage. A clutch kit is a day on your drive on axle stands with the gearbox out; a cambelt with the water pump is half a day. Fixed labour by size of car, and a call before any extra.

Clutch kit £260 to £420 labour plus £150 to £340 of parts.

Job 06

Pre-purchase inspections

Buying a used car? We meet you at the seller's house or the forecourt, go over it for an hour with a torch, a diagnostic tool and a paint gauge, drive it, and tell you plainly whether to buy it, what it needs, and what to knock off the price.

A pre-purchase inspection is £95 within our area, written report included.

How we work

Four rules on every job.

Old parts in a bag

Every part we take off goes in a bag on your passenger seat, so you can see the worn pads, the cracked belt or the dead battery for yourself. Unless you ask us to take them, then they go to the recycler.

A call before any extra

If we find something that was not on the booking, we stop, ring you, send a photograph and a price, and carry on only when you say so. Nothing goes on the bill you did not agree to.

Your warranty kept

Block exemption rules mean an independent can service a car under warranty as long as the schedule and the parts match the manufacturer's. We use OE-quality parts and stamp the digital service record.

Tidy, every time

A mat under the car, covers on the seat and the wing, and nothing left on your drive but a clean patch. We take the old oil to the recycler in Dinas.

At work

Keys at reception at eight. Car back by lunch.

Half our servicing is done in car parks: the hospital in Llwynypia, the industrial estates in Porth and Treorchy, the council offices, the schools. All we need is a space and a yes from whoever runs the car park. In the rain we put up an awning; you never see us, just the paperwork on your seat and the old filters in a bag.

Servicing

Full service on my Focus in the car park at work in Llwynypia: the website said £110 labour and about £78 of parts, the bill was £186. Keys at reception at eight, back by half eleven with the old filters in a bag on the seat.

NiaTrealaw
Non-start

Dead at seven on a frosty Monday. Ffion was there at nine, tested it, and it was the alternator, not the battery I was about to buy. New one fitted on the street by two o'clock.

GarethTreorchy
Clutch

Clutch done on our drive in a day. Dai rang at lunchtime to say the flywheel was fine, which saved us £400 we had been warned about. Everything was swept up when we got home.

Where we come

Both valleys free. Pontypridd and Aberdare for a few pounds.

Free call-out from Blaenrhondda to Trehafod and from Maerdy to Porth. £15 to Pontypridd, Beddau and Mountain Ash; £20 to Aberdare, Llantrisant and Tonyrefail. Each van carries about nine thousand pounds of tools and the parts for the common jobs, and the motor factors deliver the rest within the hour.

Questions people ask before they book

How much is a service?

For a medium car like a Focus or Golf, an interim service is £65 labour plus about £38 of oil and filter, and a full service £110 labour plus about £78 of parts. The price list works out any job for your size of car.

Do you come to me?

Yes, that is the whole idea: your drive, the street or the car park at work. Free anywhere in the Rhondda; £15 or £20 further out. The area checker says which for your postcode.

Will it affect my warranty?

No. Block exemption rules let any competent independent service a car under warranty, as long as the schedule and the parts are right. We follow the manufacturer's schedule and stamp the digital record.

What if you find something else?

We stop, ring you with a photograph and a price, and carry on only if you say so. Nothing goes on the bill you did not agree to.

What if it rains?

We work in it, with an awning for anything that needs the bonnet open. Only a clutch on a flooded drive gets moved to another day.

Are you guaranteed?

Twelve months or 12,000 miles on parts and labour. If something we fitted fails, we come back to you.

Book a slot. We bring the garage.

Pick a time, tell us the car and the job, and Dai or Ffion turns up with the van. Fixed labour, the parts at what they cost us plus our margin on the receipt, and twelve months on everything.
