What we collect, why, how long we keep it and how to ask us about it.
What we collect
When you use the booking form we collect your name, phone number, email address and postcode, a preferred date if you give one, the job, how soon, and what you tell us about the car, and anything you write. The form also records the time it was sent and your IP address, used only to block automated submissions. The job pricer and the area checker collect nothing: it is worked out from the address bar on each request and nothing is stored.
When we do a job we record the car's registration, make, model and mileage, what we did, the parts fitted, photographs of anything we found, and the address where the work was done. We keep this as your car's service record and for the guarantee, and use it to remind you a month before a service or a cambelt is due if you ask us to.
Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry and book the visit (our legitimate interest in replying to you).
- To perform the contract: the job, the parts, the guarantee and the digital service record.
- To keep accounting records (a legal obligation).
- To ask for a review a week after the job, which you can decline by replying.
Who sees it
Our two mechanics and the person who answers the phone; the motor factors, who see the registration when we order parts; the manufacturer's digital service record when we stamp it; the MOT station if we take the car there; our accountant; and the independent review platform if you agree to be asked. We do not sell or share your details for marketing, and we do not use tracking cookies or analytics scripts on this website. The map on the base page is served by Google and is subject to their privacy policy; the fonts are served by Google Fonts.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become a job are deleted after a year. Job records are kept for six years, for the guarantee and your car's history; payment records for six years.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we have no legal reason to keep it, and object to our using it for marketing. Email hello@rhondda-mobile-mechanics.co.uk or write to the base; we answer within a month. If you are not happy with the answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
The booking form sets one session cookie so that it can stop the same person sending two requests within thirty seconds. It expires when you close the browser and carries nothing about you. Nothing else on the site sets a cookie.
