Gethin and the tail-lift

Delivery

Our own van, Tuesday to Saturday: plants, bags and bulk bags around Bedwas, Caerphilly, Machen, Ystrad Mynach and up the Rhymney valley.

A plain white flatbed van loaded with potted shrubs on a terraced Welsh street, a man in a green jumper lifting a large pot down

Gethin drives it himself, which means the person lifting your tree has also watered it for the last three months.

We run Tuesday to Saturday. Within five miles of Pant Road (Bedwas, Trethomas, Machen, Caerphilly, Llanbradach) it is £8, or free over £75. To twelve miles (Ystrad Mynach, Nelson, Blackwood, Risca, Newport west, north Cardiff) it is £15. Further than that, ask.

Bags go wherever you can get a sack truck: side passage, garage, back gate. Bulk bags go on the drive or hard standing with the tail-lift, and we cannot put them on a lawn, because the van sinks. If you have steps, say so when you book.

Plants travel upright under a cover. We text you the morning of delivery with a two-hour slot. You do not have to be in if you tell us where to leave things, and we will water what we leave.

What you get

  • A two-hour slot by text on the morning
  • Bags carried to the side gate or the garage
  • Bulk bags by tail-lift onto hard standing
  • Plants watered on arrival if you are out

What it costs

Free over £75 within five miles. £8 up to five miles, £15 to twelve miles. Prices are on every label; the price list has the common ones, and the soil calculator works out how much to fill anything.

Questions about delivery

Can you deliver on a Sunday?

No. Gethin has Sundays off, and the yard needs him on a Monday.

Will you take the empty bulk bag?

Yes, next time we pass, at no cost. We reuse them for hauling bark.

Open every day but three, on the hill above Bedwas.

Bring a photograph of the bed or a leaf in a sandwich bag. Free parking for sixty cars, soup in the lean-to and a van for anything that will not fit in yours.
