Getting here, and the house rules
The unit
Unit 4, Brynmenyn Industrial Estate, Bridgend CF32 9TD: the grey unit with the red stripe, third on the left after the entrance from the A4065, with the roller shutter half up and the lights on in the evenings. The door is to the right of the shutter.
Getting here
Five minutes from junction 36 of the M4, then the A4065 towards Tondu and Brynmenyn. Buses 67 and 70 from Bridgend bus station stop at Brynmenyn Square, a six-minute walk. Tondu station is a twelve-minute walk.
Parking
Free parking for twenty cars in front of the units after 5pm and all day Saturday, when the estate is quiet. Please do not park across the neighbouring units' shutters, and drop children at the door rather than leaving engines running in the yard.
Watching
Parents and carers can watch every children's session from the bench along the side wall; there is a toilet, a kettle and the Wi-Fi password on the wall. Adults' sessions can be watched by anyone thinking of joining.
Access
The unit is single-storey and step-free from the car park, with an accessible toilet and changing room. Adaptive karate for members with disabilities has been taught at the club since 2012; ring Gareth to talk about what would work.
Safeguarding
Every instructor and assistant has an enhanced DBS check, first aid and the association's safeguarding training; Gareth is the welfare officer. Children are collected from the door by the named adult, changing is in separate rooms, and nobody photographs a child at the club without written consent.
Running late to collect? Ring 01656 496 0630; children wait inside on the bench with an instructor until the named adult arrives.
Your first session is free. Bring a T-shirt and joggers.
Tell us who is training, how old they are and the discipline you are curious about, and we ring back the same evening with a session that has space. Train barefoot on the mats, ask the instructor anything afterwards, and decide then. Or ring the club.
