Patch tests
A dab of the products behind your ear, at least 48 hours before your first tint, lift, lamination or extensions. It is free and it is not optional.
We will not do a first tint, lift or lamination, or use adhesive, without one. It is the one rule we do not bend, even if you have had the same treatment elsewhere last month.
A patch test puts a tiny amount of each product we will use on your skin, behind the ear or inside the elbow. You leave it alone and watch it for 48 hours. If you see redness, itching or swelling, you ring us, and you do not have the treatment. If it is severe, you ring your GP or 111 too.
We need at least 48 hours between the test and the appointment, since allergic reactions can take a day or two to show. So, if you want a treatment on Saturday morning, the patch test has to be by Thursday. Our patch test tool works it out, and tells you if you have left it too late.
It stays valid for six months, if nothing has changed. A new medication, a pregnancy, a reaction to anything else or a long gap all mean we test again. It costs nothing, and we can post you a kit if you live far away, though we would rather see you in person.

Questions about patch tests
I had a test somewhere else. Does it count?
Sorry, no. Different brands have different ingredients, and we need to have tested you ourselves.
What if I react?
Wash it off with water, and ring us. If your face or throat swells or you have trouble breathing, ring 999. We will not book the treatment, and there is no charge.
