Three sizes, this month's veg, two swaps, and the day the van reaches your street

Weekly veg boxes

A box of what is good this week: small for one or two at £15, medium for three or four at £21, large for a family at £28. Built on this website with this week's contents listed, up to two swaps for things you do not eat, and the next delivery day for your area worked out from the clock. No subscription.

A cardboard veg box on a slate doorstep holding potatoes, carrots, a leek, a small cabbage, onions, parsley and apples

The box is the shop in miniature. Three staples every week (potatoes, onions, carrots), then whatever is in season this month from the calendar: in November that is leeks, parsnips, a Savoy, squash and the first sprouts, with Welsh apples; in June it is new potatoes, broad beans, peas and strawberries. The boxes page lists exactly what is in each size this week and lets you swap up to two things you do not eat.

Pick the size, tick anything you want swapped out, and choose where you live. The page tells you the price (it does not change with swaps), what replaces what you swapped, and the next day the van reaches your street, counting from the 6pm cut-off the day before. Maesteg town has three rounds a week, Caerau and Nantyffyllon two, Llangynwyd and the Garth one, and the Garw valley one on Fridays.

Boxes are packed in the back of the shop from eight, loaded by half nine and out from ten; Rhys leaves them where you tell us if you are out, and takes last week's box back to use again. There is no subscription. Order the weeks you want, ring or text to skip, and pay on the doorstep by card or in the shop.

Questions about veg boxes

What if I am not in?

Tell us where to leave it in the order message: the porch, the back gate, next door. Rhys has been leaving boxes in Maesteg porches for three years and has lost none.

Can I add eggs or honey?

Yes, say so in the order message: a dozen Llangynwyd eggs £3.60, a jar of Garth honey £7.50. They go in the top of the box.
