A wicker basket of what is good this week, made up on the counter, delivered in the valley

Fruit baskets

A gift basket of the best fruit in the shop that week, made up on the counter in a wicker basket with a ribbon and a handwritten card: for a birthday, a get-well, a new baby, a funeral or a thank-you. From £25, delivered in the valley or collected.

A wicker basket of apples, pears, clementines, black grapes, bananas and a pineapple tied with a green ribbon on a wooden counter

A fruit basket is still the thing people send to the Princess of Wales when somebody is in, and to a house after a funeral, and we have made them on the counter since 1994. You tell us who it is for and roughly what they like; we choose the best of the week, which in winter means clementines, Cox, Comice pears and grapes, and in summer Welsh strawberries, cherries and peaches.

The small basket at £25 has about twelve pieces of fruit; the large at £45 about twenty-five with a pineapple or a melon at the top. A handwritten card goes in with your words. We can leave out bananas, grapes or anything somebody cannot eat, and make a no-sugar-added one with a jar of honey and nuts instead of chocolate.

Delivery is free in the Llynfi valley on the box rounds, and £4 to the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend, where we leave it with the ward. With a day's notice we can do any day the shop is open. For the same day, ring before ten.

It is a proper wicker basket. People bring them back for a refill, and a refill is £5 cheaper.
