The team

People who stay.

Menna grew up here. Rey has been here since 2012. Many of the carers live within a few miles, and they know your family, or will soon. Everyone has an enhanced DBS check, and is registered with Social Care Wales where that applies.

Menna Thomas

Registered manager

Menna grew up in this building, which her parents opened as a care home in 1994, and came back after twenty years as a community nurse in Carmarthenshire. She became registered manager in 2015.

She walks the corridors every morning and her door is open. She will talk you through the money and the worry, whether or not you end up here. Manager registration is a placeholder on this demonstration site.

Rey Santos

Clinical lead, registered nurse

Rey trained in Manila and came to Wales in 2004 to nurse at Glangwili. He has been at Bryn Awel since 2012, leads the nursing team and has learned rather more Welsh than most of the residents give him credit for.

He is trained in end-of-life care, and he is the person who will ring you when something changes, including at six in the morning.

Come and see us. Any day.

No appointment. Ring the bell at any reasonable hour, and someone will show you round and put the kettle on. If you want to talk about money or care plans with Menna, ring first so that she is free.
