We came unannounced on a Sunday, as the website said to. Somebody offered us a cup of tea before they asked who we were. Mam has been here two years. She complains about the custard, and she would be furious if we moved her.

What families say.
One for each kind of care, including the four-star one about the older part of the building. The Care Inspectorate Wales report is the independent view, and your own visit is the best one.

Dad was a miner, and he had got to the point where he spoke only Welsh, and only to some people. One of the carers sat and talked to him about Betws pit in Welsh for half an hour. I had to go out to the car.
The nurse rang me at six in the morning to say Mum's chest had got worse, and what they had done, and that I did not need to rush, but I could if I wanted to. That is the thing you want to be told, and how you want to be told it.
I had not had a night's sleep in a year. Two weeks in Bryn Awel while I had my knee done. He was not keen. He came back having made friends with a retired vet, and they now ring each other.
They put a chair by her bed and brought me meals for four days. When she died, nobody hurried us. Two of her carers came to the funeral in their own time.
Dad enjoys his Wednesdays, and the cawl is very good. The older part of the building has narrow corridors, and it was tricky with his wheeler at first. Staff are always helpful. The minibus can run late.
Come and see us. Any day.
No appointment. Ring the bell at any reasonable hour, and someone will show you round and put the kettle on. If you want to talk about money or care plans with Menna, ring first so that she is free.
