Forty-eight dishes, the heat marked one to four, vegan and gluten-free flagged, and a filter on this website
The menu
Eight starters, seven from the tandoor, six chef's specials, eight curries, three biryanis, seven vegetable and dal dishes, the rice and breads, and three puddings. Every dish carries its heat from zero to four chillies and whether it is vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free, and the menu page on this website filters by both. Mains from £10.50, the Sunday thali £16.50.

The menu is one page, not a book. Forty-eight dishes that Kiran can cook properly on a Saturday night, each with its heat marked and its dietary flags, and a section of six chef's specials that change with the season. The menu page on this website is the same list with a filter, because "what is vegan and not too hot" should not need a waiter.
The heat scale is ours and it is honest. Zero is a korma or a dal makhani with no chilli at all; one is a butter chicken or a tarka dal with warmth; two is a rogan josh or a chicken tikka, which is where most of the menu sits; three is a jalfrezi, a madras or the railway lamb curry; four is the Goan pork vindaloo and the beef chilli bhuna, which are hot because they are meant to be. Any dish can be cooked a notch either way; say so when you order and it is made that way in the pan, not adjusted with cream afterwards.
The flags are on every line: V for vegetarian, VG for vegan and GF for gluten-free. Twenty-five dishes are vegetarian, thirteen vegan and thirty-eight gluten-free, and the kitchen keeps a separate tawa for gluten-free breads and a separate fryer for the bhajis, so the flags mean something. Nuts are in the korma, the Peshwari naan and the kulfi, and the kitchen handles nuts throughout; if you have an allergy tell us and we will tell you plainly what is safe and what is not.

Questions about the menu
Can I filter the menu before I come?
Yes. The menu page on this website filters by heat (no hotter than one to four) and by vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free, with the prices beside every dish. It is the same list the kitchen works from.
Is the korma really a zero?
Yes: no chilli in it at all, cashew and cream, and it is the one for the people who were brought along. Ask for it as a one and it gets a little green chilli in the base.

Book a table for dinner, the Sunday thali for six or more, or the back room for twenty on one form, with a reply within the hour while the kitchen is open. For a takeaway, the takeaway page quotes the collection time from the clock and takes ten per cent off.
