Seven days, everything, no card details, nobody rings you afterwards

The free week

A week of the whole gym: the floor, every class on the timetable, the induction with a trainer and a programme to take away. Book it on this website with a name and an email, come in when the desk is staffed, and decide at the end. If you join, the week was free; if you do not, that is the end of it.

A gym reception with a plywood desk, a coffee machine, a protein-shake fridge, two stools and a chalkboard, warm welcoming light

A gym is impossible to judge from a website, which is why the week is free and why it is the whole gym rather than a tour and a sales chat. Book, come in, do the induction, try the classes, and at the end you know. About six in ten people join; the other four leave with a programme they can do at home and no phone calls from us.

Book on the free trial page with your name, email and when you would like to come. We reply the same day with a time for your induction (an hour with a trainer, the floor and a programme) and a fob that works for seven days. During the week every class is open to you: book them in the app like a member, and First Steps is the one we suggest first. The desk is staffed 7 to 9 on weekdays and 8 to 6 at weekends; during the trial we ask you to come in those hours so there is always someone to ask.

At the end of the week you can join at the desk or in the app at the normal prices, with no joining fee and nothing for the week. If you do not join, your fob stops and nothing else happens: no calls, no emails beyond one asking if there was anything we could have done better. If you want a second week because you were ill, ask; we usually say yes. The free week is once per person, and it is for adults; sixteen and seventeen-year-olds can do it with a parent's signature.

Questions about free week

Is there a catch?

No. The catch is that about six in ten people join, which is more than any amount of advertising would get us, and the ones who do not leave with a good opinion of the place.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, as long as they book their own free week; two people doing First Steps together is the best way to start.
