The pink door on Commercial Street.

Between the bank and the bakery in the old draper's with the tall arched windows: Studio 1 and reception downstairs, the black box upstairs, the drop-off bay outside, and every bus into town a minute away. Visits any evening the office is open; the free taster is the better look round.

Getting here, and the house rules

The studios

15 Commercial Street, Newport NP20 1YE: the old draper's with the tall arched windows and the pink door, between the bank and the bakery, three minutes from the Kingsway bus station and six from Newport railway station. Studio 1 (ballet, tap and modern) is on the ground floor; Studio 2 (street and commercial) is upstairs. Reception and the waiting room are at the front.

Getting here

Every bus into the city centre stops at Kingsway or on Commercial Street itself; the railway station is a six-minute walk down High Street. From the M4 take junction 26 or 27 and follow signs for the city centre. Bike racks are outside the door.

Parking and drop-off

Kingsway multi-storey is two minutes away (free after 6pm); the Friars Walk car park is five minutes and £1 for the evening. There is a ten-minute loading bay outside the door for drop-off from 4pm, which the wardens know is ours. Please do not block the bakery's delivery bay.

Waiting and watching

Parents of Pre-Primary and Primary dancers may wait in the reception room, which has a kettle, a window into Studio 1 and the second-hand rail. Older dancers are dropped off and collected at the door. Watching weeks are the last week of every half term, when parents come into the studio for the last ten minutes.

Access

Studio 1, reception, the changing rooms and the accessible toilet are step-free from the street; Studio 2 is up a flight of stairs with no lift, and a dancer who cannot manage the stairs is timetabled into Studio 1 for their street or commercial class. Tell us what you need and we will make the timetable fit.

Safeguarding

Every teacher and assistant has an enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training; Nerys is the designated lead. Changing rooms are single-sex with a separate boys' room; the front door is on a buzzer during classes; photographs are only by the licensed show photographer with consent; and no dancer under twelve leaves the building without the named adult.

Running late to collect? Ring 01633 496 0620; under-twelves wait in reception with Bethan until you arrive.

The first class is free. Any class, any age, nothing to buy.

Tell us the dancer's age and the style you are curious about, and the office rings back the same day with a class that has a space. Come in anything you can move in, stand at the back if you like, and decide afterwards. Or ring Bethan in the office.
