Back and neck

Back went lifting the pushchair out of the boot. Seen the next morning at 7:30, examined properly, told it was not a disc, and given three exercises and a loading plan. Walking normally in a week, discharged after five sessions with a stronger back than before.

Achilles that had stopped me running for six months. Tom did the gait analysis, found a calf that had lost half its strength, and had me running again in five weeks on a plan that went up every Monday. Half marathon done, no pain.

After surgery

Knee replacement at 74. Jane came to the house twice in the first week, then I went to the clinic gym, then the Steady group. Up and down my stairs without the rail by week eight. The surgeon said it was the best range he had seen that month.

Pelvic health

Postnatal check with Jane at eight weeks. Private room, no rush, everything explained. Told I had a separation and a pelvic floor that was working at the wrong time, given a plan, and I ran a 5k at six months without leaking. Nobody else had even asked.

Shoulder and arm

Frozen shoulder. Sara was honest from the first session that it would take the best part of a year and it did. Four stars because I wanted a quicker answer and there is not one; five for the honesty and for a shoulder that now lifts.

Rhys sprained his ankle at rugby and had it strapped and assessed within two days. Loading plan, balance work on the wobble board, back on the pitch in four weeks and the ankle has not gone again, which it used to do every season.

About the four stars

A frozen shoulder takes a year. Saying so cost a star, and we would say it again.

Steve wanted a quicker answer and there is not one: a frozen shoulder goes through its freezing, frozen and thawing phases over nine to eighteen months whatever anyone does to it, and the honest job is to manage the pain, keep what movement there is, and load it as it thaws. We would rather tell you that at session one than sell you twenty sessions of hoping.
