Up the stairs, on the left
Alterations
Cerys alters clothes from anywhere, not just from us. Hems from £12, zips from £16, most things done within a week.

The sewing room over the shop has been there as long as the shop. You do not have to have bought anything from us; about half of Cerys's work walks in from elsewhere.
Bring the garment and, if you can, the shoes. Cerys pins it on you, writes a price on a ticket before she touches a stitch, and gives you a date. Most jobs take under a week. Bridal and heavy coats take longer, and she will say so instead of promising. She came to us after twenty-six years in a Pontypool dress factory, and there is very little she has not unpicked.
She will also tell you when it is not worth doing. A £20 pair of trousers with a £30 repair goes home unaltered, with an apology and some advice about tailors' chalk.
How it works here
- A written price on a ticket before any work starts
- Pinned and fitted on you, not guessed from a tape
- Most jobs within a week; urgent jobs by arrangement
- Zips, linings, hems, taking in and letting out
- Honest advice when a repair is not worth paying for
What it costs
Trouser hems £12, skirt hems from £15, zips from £16, taking in from £18, coat relining from £75. A written price before she starts. Every price is on the shop page, and the size guide tells you what to try first.
Questions about alterations
Do I need an appointment?
Not for a hem or a zip; just come up the stairs while the shop is open. For bridal or anything complicated, ring first so Cerys can set aside half an hour.
There are stairs. Is there another way?
The sewing room is up one flight, with no lift. If stairs are a problem, Cerys comes down to the fitting room. Tell whoever is on the counter.
Do you alter men's clothes?
Yes. Trouser hems and jacket sleeves walk in every week, and a man has been known to stand in the fitting room looking lost.
Come and try something on.
The kettle is on and the fitting room is free more often than you would think. Thursday evenings are by appointment, for anyone who works.
