The size guide

Every label cuts differently.

A 12 in one of our labels is a 14 in another. Tell us your usual size and how the label fits, add your bust measurement if you know it, and we will tell you what to try first. Then come and try it, because that is what the fitting room is for.

Prices on everything

Every label in the shop has its price on it, and every price on this site is the one on the rail.

Sizes 6 to 22, every line

If a label stops at 18 we stop buying it. It has happened twice.

Twenty-eight days

Change your mind within 28 days, receipt in hand, tags on, for an exchange or your money back.

No hovering

We say hello, we point at the kettle and we leave you alone until you want us.

Up the stairs, on the left

The sewing room is why most things fit.

Cerys spent twenty-six years in a Pontypool dress factory before she took the room over the shop. She alters clothes from anywhere, and she writes a price on a ticket before she starts. Trouser hems are £12, zips from £16, and a tired coat can be relined from £75.

People who came in

What they said.

All six
Mother of the groom

I had been told to wear a colour and I had been dreading it. Rhian put me in the bottle green and took the fascinator out of my hand. I wore flat shoes and danced until midnight.

Gwen P.Crickhowell
Size 20

First shop in years where the thing on the rail actually came in my size, and nobody looked at me as if I had asked for something odd. The cord pinafore has been to work about two hundred times.

Sian M.Abergavenny
Alterations

Took a coat of my late mother's up the stairs to Cerys. She relined it, moved the buttons, and did not make me talk about it. Sixty-five pounds.

Questions people ask

Do you sell online?

No. Ring us about anything on the new-in list and we will hold your size for 48 hours. We also post, if you know your size and you have bought from us before.

What sizes do you carry?

UK 6 to 22 in every line. Labels cut differently, so try the size tool before you come in, or bring your usual size and we will find you the right one.

What is "new in this week"?

Deliveries arrive every Tuesday morning. The list on this site changes with the date and shows what came in on the most recent Tuesday.

Can I just come in?

Please do. Styling sessions and Thursday evenings are booked, but the shop is open to anyone who wants to look, and nobody will follow you round.

Do I need to book alterations?

Not for a hem or a zip. Come upstairs while we are open and Cerys will pin it and write you a price.

Do you do hats?

A milliner in Crickhowell makes them to order from about £95, usually in three weeks. Tell us the colour, or bring the dress.

Come and try something on.

The kettle is on and the fitting room is free more often than you would think. Thursday evenings are by appointment, for anyone who works.
