Post, plants, bins, lights, and the empty house
House checks and holiday cover
Every pet visit looks after the house as well, at no charge. For a house with no animals, a check visit does the post, the plants, the bins, the heating, a walk through every room and a photo to say all is well. £10, and we hold the key for the plumber if the worst happens.

A house that is obviously empty for a fortnight is a house with a pile of post on the mat and the same light on at the same time every night. Our sitters have been doing the small sensible things for ten years, and for a house with no animals we do them as a visit on their own.
On every pet visit: post off the mat and onto the table, bins out on the right day and back in, plants watered to your note, curtains and blinds moved, a different lamp left on, the thermostat as you asked, and a look at the boiler, the taps and the windows. If something is wrong, a leak, a window, a letter that looks urgent, you get a photograph that day.
For a house with no animals the check is the same visit without the feeding: £10, as often as you like, with a photo of the hall to say the house is fine. We hold keys in a coded safe labelled with a number, never an address, and in an emergency we can let in a plumber or a locksmith you have authorised and wait while they work, at the visit price per hour.

Questions about house checks
Do you water the garden?
Pots and the greenhouse, yes, as part of the visit. A whole garden in a dry August is a separate arrangement at the visit price per half hour.
What if there is a leak while I am away?
You get a photograph and a call. With your say-so we turn the water off at the stopcock, which we ask you to show us at the first visit, and let in the plumber you name.

Up to forty-five minutes at your house: we meet the animals, go through the feeding, the medication and the house, photograph the charts and take a key. Message or ring, or use the form, and Carys replies within the day.
