Thirty minutes, once or twice a day, in their own home

Cat visits

Fed at their usual times, water changed, litter tray scooped, a brush and a lap if they want one, the post picked up and the curtains moved. £14 a visit, £26 for two in a day, up to three cats from the same home.

Most cats would rather you went on holiday without them. A visit keeps everything the same: their food, their times, their window, and someone who sits on the floor for ten minutes and lets them decide. Most come out by the second day.

A morning visit is between seven and ten, an evening visit between four and nine, and we keep to the slot your cat is used to. Wet and dry as you leave it, water changed, the tray scooped and the litter topped up, fur brushed if that is part of the routine, and ten minutes of company whether they want it or not. We check the cat is actually there and actually eating, every visit, and if a cat has not shown itself by the second day we search the house properly rather than assume.

The note after each visit says what was eaten, what the tray held, where the cat was and how it seemed. Timid cats, cats on medication and cats who have just come home from the vet are all fine; tell us at the first visit and we plan the visit around it. Indoor cats are kept indoors. Cats with a flap are left with the flap as you set it.

Questions about cat visits

My cat hides from strangers. Is a visit still worth it?

Yes. Most hiding cats are out by the second or third visit once they learn the routine. We sit on the floor, we do not chase, and we check they have eaten rather than seen them. If a cat has not eaten in twenty-four hours we ring you and the vet.

One visit a day or two?

One is fine for a healthy adult cat with dry food down. Two for kittens, cats on wet food only, cats on medication, cats over twelve and any cat who frets. We will say which we think at the first visit.

Up to forty-five minutes at your house: we meet the animals, go through the feeding, the medication and the house, photograph the charts and take a key. Message or ring, or use the form, and Carys replies within the day.
