Puppies, kittens, boosters, microchips, flea and worm
Vaccinations and health checks
The routine care that keeps a pet out of the other pages: first vaccinations for puppies and kittens, annual boosters with a full health check, microchipping, flea and worm treatment, and the health plan that spreads it all over the year for a monthly direct debit.

A booster is twenty minutes, not a jab and a goodbye. The vet goes over the whole animal: teeth, heart, lungs, joints, skin, weight, the lumps you have wondered about. Most of the things we catch early, we catch at a booster.
Puppies and kittens have two visits, at eight and twelve weeks for puppies and nine and twelve for kittens, covering the core vaccines, a health check, microchipping, worming, feeding and training advice, and neutering plans. Rabbits are vaccinated once a year against myxomatosis and both strains of viral haemorrhagic disease. Adult dogs and cats have a booster every year; the leptospirosis and kennel cough parts for dogs depend on where they go, and we will tell you honestly which they need.
Flea and worm treatment is the thing most people get wrong, because the supermarket products are weaker and the dosing is by weight. On the health plan it is posted to you every month at the right dose for your pet's current weight, and the vet checks the weight at each visit. Titre testing, for people who would rather test than re-vaccinate, is £65 and we are happy to do it.

Questions about vaccinations
Does my indoor cat need vaccinating?
For cat flu and enteritis, yes, because they travel on shoes and clothes. The leukaemia part is optional for a cat that never goes out and we will say so rather than include it.
When can my puppy go out?
A week after the second vaccination, so usually at thirteen weeks. Before that, carry them around the village and let them meet vaccinated dogs you know; the socialisation window is more important than the risk.
Is the health plan worth it?
For a dog, £24 a month is £288 a year, and the booster, flea and worm treatment and two health checks it includes cost about £330 bought separately, before the 10% off everything else. For a healthy cat it is closer to break-even; the convenience is the point.
Register a pet, or book an appointment.
Registration takes five minutes and we request the history from your previous vet. Sick pets are seen the same day, emergencies at once, and out of hours one of our own vets answers 01632 960 813. Every price is on the website.
