What we collect, why, who sees it and how long we keep it.
What we collect
When you book, enquire or set a reminder we collect what you give us: name, phone, email, vehicle registration and the dates and details of the work. MOT results are recorded on the DVSA's system as the law requires; that record is the DVSA's, not ours. We record the IP address a form was sent from to deal with spam. This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. The map on the contact page is loaded from Google when you scroll to it.
Why we use it
- To confirm and carry out bookings and reply to enquiries (our contract with you).
- To send the MOT reminder you asked for, one text and one email a year (your consent, withdrawn by replying STOP or emailing us).
- To keep records of tests and work done, for the DVSA, our insurers and HMRC (legal obligation).
No marketing you have not asked for, and we never sell or share your details for marketing.
Who sees it
The three of us, our accountant, the DVSA for test results, and the providers of our email, text-message and booking software, which store data in the UK or EU.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that go nowhere are deleted after twelve months. Booking and workshop records are kept for six years for HMRC and our guarantee. Reminder details are kept until you ask us to stop or the car is no longer registered to you.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it, by emailing bookings@taffmotcentre.co.uk. We reply within a month. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
