Did the beginners' course at 52 having never done anything. Eight of us, Eleri explaining what a downward dog was without laughing, tea afterwards. Three years on I do yin on a Tuesday and hatha on a Saturday and I have not had a back spasm since. The five minutes of stillness at the end is the best part of my week.
Reviews
What people say, after a while.
Six reviews, one for each thing we teach, including the four-star one. Collected by an independent platform three months after a first class; we do not choose which appear, and the teachers are named so you can see who they are talking about.
Collected by a third-party review platform. Names shortened at the reviewers' request.
Runner, bad hip, physio sent me to Sam. Three private sessions on the reformer, then the Thursday strong reformer class with five other people and a teacher who adjusts every one of us. Six people. You cannot hide and you cannot cheat. Hip is fine, marathon done.
Pregnancy course with Nia from twenty weeks, then postnatal with the baby on the mat beside me screaming for the first ten minutes while everyone carried on being kind about it. The breathing from the course got me through labour. Nia remembers every baby's name.
Seventy-four, two knees replaced, Ruth's Wednesday mobility class and a private reformer session a month. She fixed what two years of leaflets did not. The over-sixties class is a dozen of us and we have been to each other's funerals' worth of weddings by now.
Lovely studio, honest prices, teachers who actually teach. Four stars because the Sunday sound bath sells out within a day of going on the schedule and I have missed three; they now put the dates up two months ahead and run it twice some months, which helps, but a bigger room would help more.
Unlimited pass between us for a year, which is cheaper than it sounds because we go four times a week. Strong flow with Eleri on a Wednesday is the hardest class in Cardiff and the quietest. No music, no mirrors, no one filming themselves. Just the work.
About the four stars
The sound bath sells out in a day. It now runs twice most months, and the dates go up two months ahead.
Hannah is right, and the honest answer is that the room holds fourteen lying down and that is the number. What we have changed: the sound bath dates are published two months ahead rather than one, it runs twice in the months Ruth can manage it, members on an unlimited pass get a day's head start on booking, and the waiting list in the app now fills cancellations automatically. A bigger room is not something we can do in a chapel schoolroom, and we would rather keep the small one than move.
