Your heat, not oursEvery curry is cooked to the chilli count you pick, one to five. A korma will not go past two and a vindaloo starts at four, because they would stop being what they are.
Collection and delivery onlyNo tables, no waiters, no service charge. The kitchen is the whole shop, and the money goes on the food and the drivers.
A time you can believeThe website works out the delivery and collection time from the clock and tells you when Friday is busy, before you order, not after.

How we work

Four things that are true of the kitchen.

Cooked to order

The base sauces are made every afternoon from onions, tomato and our own spice mix; your curry is finished in a karahi when you order it, to the heat you asked for. That is why a jalfrezi takes twelve minutes and not two.

Prices on the website are the prices

The same menu, the same prices, by phone, at the counter or through this website. No app mark-up; delivery is free over £20 within three miles.

Allergies taken seriously

Every dish on the menu carries its allergen codes. Tell us when you order and Nasreen writes it on the ticket in red; the kitchen uses all 14 major allergens, so we will never say a dish is free of traces.

Our own drivers

Three drivers who work for us, not for an app, who know the terraces of Aberbargoed and the lanes up to Deri, and who bring it hot in insulated bags.

Curries

I built a lamb jalfrezi at four chillies on the website, saw £11.45 before I rang, and the site said Friday was busy and to allow an hour. It came in fifty minutes and it was a four, not a two pretending.

Tandoori

The mixed grill arrives still sizzling, which I did not think was possible over three miles. The seekh kebabs are made in the back and you can tell.

Vegetarian

A proper tarka dal with fried garlic, a saag paneer and a paneer bhuna at three, all vegetarian and none of it an afterthought. They asked about allergies without me mentioning it.

Questions people ask on the phone

How hot is a three?

Medium: you notice it, you do not need a glass of milk. One is mild, two gentle, four hot, five very hot. Each curry has its own range: a korma goes to two, a vindaloo starts at four.

How long will it be?

About forty minutes to the door and twenty to collect on a normal night; Friday and Saturday from half six to nine, and Sunday from six to eight, add twenty. The home page works it out from the clock.

Where do you deliver?

Bargoed, Aberbargoed, Gilfach, Pengam, Fleur-de-Lys, Tir-y-berth, Brithdir and Deri. Free over £20 within three miles, minimum £15.

Can I order online?

Build your curry on the website and send the order form, or ring. We ring or text back to confirm the time; pay on the phone, at the counter or at the door.

What about allergies?

Every line on the menu has its allergen codes. Tell us when you order. Our kitchen handles all 14 major allergens, so we cannot promise any dish is free of traces.

Is there somewhere to eat in?

No. Spice Junction is a counter and a kitchen, collection and delivery only, and has been since 2004.

Build it to your heat, see the price, then ring.

Nine curries, five proteins, one to five chillies, a rice and a naan: the builder gives the price before you pick up the phone. Free delivery over £20 within three miles; about forty minutes on a normal night.
