I check the board on the website at eight and know whether the turbot is in before I put my shoes on. Last week it said gone by eleven and I went for the lemon sole instead. That is the whole point of a website and nobody else does it.

The Friday box for four, every other week since 2021. Fish landed that morning, batter that works, chips that are chips. Twenty minutes and the kids think I can cook. The card is laminated now because it has been through the dishwasher twice.
The kippers are the real thing: pale, oaky, bones you can deal with. I post them to my father in Shropshire on Mondays and he rings on Wednesday to say they arrived. The smoked haddock converted a man who thought it was supposed to be yellow.
Two hours with Siân and I can fillet a plaice, which I could not do at forty-one. Took home a bass I had done myself and a knife I have used every week since. Six of us, no showing off, and she did not laugh when I opened an oyster the wrong way.
Best fish in the Vale and the only place I trust with a crab. Four stars because the Sunday morning is first come first served and by half past ten the slab is bare; if you want the Sunday price get there at nine. They are honest that it is leftovers, which I respect.
Sheet by text at half six, van at the back door by half eight, the same hake every day of the week. When the boats landed nothing in February they said so instead of sending something tired. Three years, no bad box.
About the four stars
Sunday morning is bare by half past ten, and Gareth is right.
Sunday is Saturday's landing at the Sunday price, about a third off, and it is first come first served because it would be dishonest to take orders for fish we might not have. What we have changed since: the board on this website is updated at nine on a Sunday with what is actually on the slab, so nobody drives in for a turbot that went on Saturday; and anything still there at half past eleven goes to the food bank kitchen rather than the bin. It is still bare by half past ten on a good week. Get there at nine.
