Getting here, access and hours
The shop
12 Holton Road, Barry CF63 4HB: the slate-blue front with the fish on ice in the window, on the main shopping street, between the bank and the bakery, two minutes from Barry Docks station and five from Barry station. One room, the slab along the left, the crab bench at the back, the kiln in the yard behind.
Getting here
Barry Docks station is a two-minute walk, Barry station five; buses 92, 93, 94, 96 and 98 all stop on Holton Road. The Thompson Street car park is two minutes and the first hour is free; the loading bay outside is thirty minutes. A bike rack by the door.
Access
Level from the pavement through the main door, which is wide enough for a wheelchair, and the counter is low enough to see onto the ice from a chair. The yard and the kiln are not accessible; we bring the smoked fish to the front. We will carry anything to a car on Holton Road.
Orders and the phone
Ring, email or use the order page; a counter order is set aside with your name, a Friday box by Thursday 6pm. The phone is answered in shop hours by whoever has dry hands, which at eight on a Saturday takes a moment; the board on this website is quicker.
Delivery
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons within about five miles: Barry, Barry Island, Cadoxton, Rhoose, Sully, Dinas Powys, Penarth and Wenvoe. £4, free over £50, in a cool box on the step if you ask. Friday boxes delivered Friday afternoon on the same terms.
Hours
Tuesday to Friday 8am to 5pm, Saturday 7:30am to 3pm, Sunday 9am to noon for Saturday's landing at the Sunday price, closed Monday because the boats go out that night. Christmas: open the 22nd to the 24th, closed until the 5th of January; order the Christmas fish by the 18th.
Standing on Holton Road and cannot see a blue shop with fish in the window? You are at the wrong end; it is the Docks station end. Ring 01446 496 0520 and one of us will step out.
