The back room for twelve, its own menu, its own door

Private dining

A panelled room at the back for eight to twelve with a fireplace, its own door off the courtyard and a set menu written for your party. No hire fee against a minimum spend; the whole restaurant on a Monday or Tuesday.

A private dining room: a long table for twelve set with white linen and candles, burgundy walls and a fireplace

Twelve people at one table in a room with a door is the right size for a birthday, an anniversary or the dinner after a funeral. We have done hundreds of each, and the room knows the difference.

The back room was the townhouse's dining room and still has its panelling, its fireplace and its own door off the courtyard, so a party can arrive and leave without walking through the restaurant. It seats eight to twelve at one table, with its own waiter for the evening. Sioned writes a set menu for the party, usually three choices per course, around what is good that week and what you have told us about the guests; a tasting menu for the table is the other option.

There is no hire fee; you commit to a minimum spend on food and wine and the room is yours from 6pm until we close, or from noon on a Sunday. Mondays and Tuesdays, when we are otherwise closed, the whole restaurant can be taken for forty seated: weddings, wakes and the Christmas parties that start in October. Tom runs every private booking personally; a £100 deposit holds the date and comes off the final bill.

Questions about private room

Can we have a cake or speeches?

Both. We plate the cake, there is no charge, and the door means your speeches do not reach the dining room. A playlist on the room's speaker is fine; a microphone is not needed for twelve.

Book a table.

Forty covers, so Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays need a booking. Lunch is two courses for £24, Wednesday to Saturday. The back room seats twelve with no hire fee. The menu changes every Wednesday and is online by noon.
