Lunch

A set lunch is where a kitchen shows its honesty: the same produce, the same cooking, and a price that lets you come every week. Ours has been £24 for two courses for three years and we are not planning to move it.

The lunch menu is written on Wednesday with the dinner menu and uses the same deliveries: three starters, three mains, three puddings, one of each always vegetarian and one usually fish. It might be a leek and Perl Las tart, then a Gower cod with brown shrimp butter, then the chocolate tart; it might be the lamb from Sunday turned into a shepherd's pie that people drive for. The à la carte is there too if you want the full thing.

If you have an afternoon to get back to, say so when you sit down and two courses will be on the table and cleared in an hour. If you do not, the room is quiet from two and nobody will hurry you. A glass of wine from the lunch list is £6 to £9, and the coffee is from the roastery in Penarth.

Two courses £24, three £29, Wednesday to Saturday from noon to 2:30. The à la carte is also available at lunch. Children two courses £12. Prices include VAT.
