Terms and conditions
The plain-English terms for website, email, hosting and setup at £250 a year. If anything here is unclear, ask us in the chat before you start.
1. Who we are
My Local Website is a service of Valley PC Ltd. In these terms "we" and "us" means Valley PC Ltd, and "you" means the business or person who orders the service. You can reach us through the chat on this website or at hello@mylocalwebsite.co.uk.
2. What the service includes
For £250 a year we provide:
- Your website: a website based on one of the designs shown on this site, or designed for your trade if none fits, set up with your business details, words, photographs, prices and opening hours.
- Your email: email on your own web address.
- Your hosting: hosting for the website and email, with an SSL certificate (the padlock), software updates and backups.
- Your setup: building the site, connecting it to your domain, setting up your email and submitting the site to Google.
Anything beyond this, such as extra pages or features, online shops, or large changes after launch, is not included. We will always tell you the price before doing any work that costs extra, and nothing extra is charged without your agreement.
3. The annual term and renewal
The service runs for twelve months from the day your website goes live. Before the end of each year we will remind you that it is due to renew and tell you the price. If you want to carry on, you pay for the next year. If we ever change the price, we will tell you at least 30 days before your renewal date, and you can choose not to renew.
4. Payment
The annual fee is paid in advance. We start building your website once you have ordered, and your website goes live once the first year has been paid. If a renewal is not paid, see section 10.
5. Your content
You give us the words, photographs, logos and information that go on your website, and you confirm that you have the right to use them and that they are accurate and lawful. We help you write and arrange your pages, but you are responsible for what your website says about your business, including your prices and any claims you make. We can refuse or remove content that we reasonably believe is unlawful, misleading or infringes someone else's rights.
6. Who owns what
Your words, photographs, logo and business information remain yours. The design, code and templates of the website remain ours, and we licence them to you for as long as you are a customer. If you leave, we will give you a copy of your words and images on request.
7. Your domain name
If you already have a domain name, you keep it and we connect it to your website. If we register one for you, we register it in your name or your business's name, so it is yours, and we will help you move it if you leave.
8. Changes after launch
Businesses change, and websites need to keep up: new prices, new opening hours, a new photograph. Ask us in the chat. We will tell you whether a change is included or, if it is a larger piece of work, what it would cost before we do it.
9. Hosting, email and fair use
We take reasonable care to keep your website and email running and secure, but we cannot promise they will never be interrupted: there will occasionally be maintenance, and problems outside our control (such as power or network failures at our suppliers). The website and email are for your business's normal use. You must not use them to send spam, to host unlawful material, or in a way that harms our systems or other customers. We may suspend a service that is being misused, and we will tell you why.
10. Cancelling and ending the service
- Changing your mind: if you cancel within 14 days of ordering and before we have started building your website, we refund what you have paid in full.
- During the year: you can stop at any time, but the annual fee covers the whole year and is not refunded for the part of the year you do not use.
- At renewal: if you decide not to renew, or the renewal is not paid, we will remind you. If it is still unpaid 30 days after the renewal date, we may switch off the website and email. We keep a backup for a further 30 days in case you change your mind, and then delete it.
11. Our liability to you
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Our total liability to you in connection with the service in any year is limited to the fees you paid us for that year. We are not liable for loss of profits, business, revenue or data, or for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer rather than a business, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change affects your service, we will tell you before your next renewal, and the terms that apply to you are the ones in place when your current year started.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
14. Questions
Ask us anything about these terms through the chat or at hello@mylocalwebsite.co.uk. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.
