What we collect, why, how long we keep it and how to ask us about it.
My Local Website is a service of Valley PC Ltd, which is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. Last reviewed October 2026.
What this website collects
The design finder works from the words you type in the address of the page and stores nothing. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, the page requested, the time and the browser) for security and to keep the site running; these are deleted after a short period.
How we measure the website (SiteBehaviour)
We use SiteBehaviour to understand how people use this website and the demo websites under /demosite/: which pages are visited, where people click and how far they scroll, so that we can see what works and improve it. It may record your interactions with the page to build heatmaps and session replays. It uses browser storage on your device to do this and is not used to identify you or to show you advertising. You can block it with your browser's privacy settings or a content blocker, and the website works the same without it.
The Start today form (Paperform)
The Start today form is provided by Paperform, which collects and stores your answers on our behalf. We use them only to contact you about the website you asked about and to build it if you go ahead. Paperform may set cookies needed for the form to work.
If you email us, we keep the correspondence so we can answer you and, if you become a customer, so we have a record of what we agreed.
Why we use it
- To answer your questions and, if you ask, to set up your website, email and hosting (our contract with you, or steps you asked us to take before one).
- To keep accounting records if you become a customer (a legal obligation).
- To keep this website secure and to understand how it is used so we can improve it (our legitimate interest).
We do not sell your information or send you marketing you did not ask for.
How long we keep it
Chat and email conversations that do not lead anywhere are deleted within twelve months. Customer records are kept for six years after you stop being a customer, as the law requires for accounts.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing hello@mylocalwebsite.co.uk. We answer within a month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
The demo websites
The demo websites under /demosite/ are showcases for made-up businesses. They carry the same SiteBehaviour measurement as this website, and this policy covers them. Their own forms and privacy pages are examples written for the made-up businesses: please don't use those forms to contact us, and don't send personal information through them.
