Six hundred and forty frames from £49, and a lens explained before it is ordered
Frames and lenses
Six hundred and forty frames on the wall, from our own-brand range at £49 to independent designers, chosen with a dispensing optician who measures them to your face and explains the lens options and the price on a card before anything is ordered. Single-vision lenses from £45, varifocals from £120.

Choosing glasses is two decisions, and most places only help with one. The frame is the one you can see. The lens is the one you look through all day, and it is where the difference between a £45 pair and a £300 pair actually lives. Josh does both, honestly, with the price on a card.
The wall has six hundred and forty frames: our own range from £49, which is the same acetate and the same hinges as frames at three times the price, up to independent designers from Denmark, Germany and Japan. Josh measures the frame to your face, your pupils and your prescription, because a varifocal in a frame that is too shallow does not work however much it cost. Children's frames are fitted the same way and covered by the NHS voucher.
Lenses are the other half. Single vision from £45 does most people. Varifocals from £120 give distance, middle and reading in one lens, and the dearer designs give a wider reading area and less swim at the edges; Josh will say which you will notice. Thinner lenses for stronger prescriptions, anti-reflection and scratch coatings, tints and photochromics, and safety glasses to the standard your work needs. Every option is written on the card with its price, and you can take the card home.

Questions about frames and lenses
Can I bring my own frame?
Yes, if it is sound. We check the hinges and the rims, and if it will take the lenses we glaze it. If it will not survive the process we say so first rather than after.
Can I use my prescription from somewhere else?
Of course, and you can take ours anywhere. Bring the prescription and we fit frames and lenses to it. If it is more than two years old we will suggest a fresh examination first.
Book an eye examination.
Forty minutes with the optometrist, the OCT scan included, £35 or free on the NHS if you qualify. Tell us the days that suit and Val confirms a time within the working day. Sudden eye problem? Ring, and you are seen today.
