Small, medium or large, built on this website with the week's contents and the price, with eggs, bread and milk added if you want them

Veg boxes

A box of what is in the field this week: small for one or two at £14, medium for three or four at £22, large for a family at £32. Build it on the boxes page, which lists exactly what goes in this week and adds eggs, bread and milk if you tick them, with the total before you order. Collect from the shop or delivered within eight miles on Thursday and Friday for £3.50, free over £30.

A wooden crate filled with freshly picked vegetables with the soil still on: carrots, leeks, a cabbage, beetroot, potatoes and a bunch of chard, on a farm shop table

The box is the field, in a crate, on a Thursday. Nia walks the rows on Monday and writes what is ready; the list goes on this website on Monday night; you build the box you want by Tuesday noon; the picking is Wednesday and Thursday morning; and the box is on the shelf under your name on Thursday afternoon or on the van. No subscription, no surprise swede: the page shows exactly what is in each size this week.

Three sizes. Small, for one or two people, has six things; medium, for three or four, nine; large, for a family of five or six, twelve, with bigger quantities of the staples. The contents change every week with the field: in October that is potatoes, carrots, leeks, beetroot, a squash, chard, the last beans and the first sprouts; in June it is new potatoes, broad beans, salad, radishes, the first courgettes and strawberries. The boxes page lists this week's contents for each size and works out the total with any extras: half a dozen of our eggs, a sourdough from the Cowbridge bakery, a litre of Llantrithyd milk. Build it there, press "Order this box", and the form is filled in.

Collect from the shop from Thursday afternoon, or we deliver on Thursday and Friday within about eight miles: Bonvilston, St Nicholas, Peterston, Pendoylan, Cowbridge, Llantrithyd, Wenvoe, St Athan, Culverhouse Cross and the western edge of Cardiff. £3.50, free over £30. Boxes are left in the place you tell us if nobody is in. We do not do a subscription, on purpose: order the weeks you want and skip the ones you are away, and we would rather sell you a box you will eat than one you will not.

Questions about veg boxes

Can I swap something I do not like?

Yes: say so in the order message and we swap it for something of the same value from the shelf. Beetroot is the one people swap most, and we take no offence.

What if I miss Tuesday noon?

Ring on Wednesday; if the picking list has room we add you. After Wednesday morning the field has been picked and the answer is next week, or come to the shop, where the same vegetables are on the trestles on Thursday.
